Suggestions & Bugs / Obby race rework discussion

Anyone have any good ideas on how to make Obby Race more enjoyable for all?

Bomb suggested that the first person to finish gets LR which is what I'm currently leaning toward. (Once the first person wins the LR could also end?)

Jailbreak Staff Guidelines to Follow

- Staff should join BLU when the BLU team is struggling (Wardens dying, LRs not being assigned, mass rebels occurring, etc.)
- Staff should respawn players at the beginning of rounds (REDs in cells or on a line) so long as the respawns aren't unfair to the other players. Generally this means as long as no one has yet died and no games have been started, respawns are OK. (Mod 1s can try to trigger a vote mass respawn but keep in mind that this means the vote will take 10-15 seconds to pass so try your best to make sure it wont unfairly affect the round).
- Staff should trigger the /freeday command to activate a freeday when appropriate (such as when cells open before the Warden gives orders). Respawns should be enabled unless it's likely the round will end quickly.

Please reply with additions, modifications or any other situations that may require clarification.

We are trying a new host for the Jailbreak server. You will need to update your favourites.

Add either jb.war3evo.info or If you check your favourites and it isn't showing should really update it to get a better connection. Right now the old IP is forwarding to the new IP which means if you connect to the old one you will have a higher ping than connecting directly to the new one.

If you end up with two entries on your favourites list, connect to the one with lower ping (and consider removing the higher ping one to avoid confusion).

if multiple players jump on this bar it eventually kills them.

i could make it so that the bar doesn't deal damage but then that results in the bar not moving whenever it would have normally dealt damage.

just wondering if perhaps there's some better solution you guys can come up with for it

There is a secret accessible in the new map's jump rope which I believe has ammo in it. It's not really feasible to have a rebelling secret inside a mini game (as we saw last night during one of the play tests).

Right now my plan is to remove it / block it off but I figured if anyone could think of a more elegant solution then we could try that instead.

something to remember is that attacks against teammates (i.e. friendly fire) are NOT lag compensated, which generally "feels" unresponsive/bad (and gets worse the higher your ping is). changing the game mode to team deathmatch would eliminate this problem.

JailBreak / Derpinator (aka Zoink)'s Permaban

Since players are asking and there's no real explanation available outside of the mod lounge, I thought it would be beneficial to let everyone know the reasoning behind Derpinator's removal from the community.

Overarching explanation: Derpinator has been playing on W3E servers for multiple years, long before he was ever known as Zoink. During these years, he consistently exerted a negative influence on the community; breaking numerous rules in terms of communication and gameplay. To this day he holds one of the largest report histories of any player (see below), which even extends back to before every applied punishment was tracked in the database.

Derpinator recently returned with the name Zoink and with the removal of his permanent gag was given a chance to show us that he has changed (this would be his third, possibly fourth (it's hard to keep track) time being given another opportunity to show us he has changed / reintegrate with the community in a positive way). It became evident that Derpinator was not genuinely doing so (see below) so his punishment was reapplied.

The coordinated mass rebelling was the latest iteration of Derpinator causing problems on the server. It was also possibly the most difficult to prevent as rebelling IS a core part of the Jailbreak gameplay. If it's not already understood, JB gameplay degrades significantly when BLUs are trampled round after round and LR is no longer being assigned. Community members, player wardens and new players alike are presented with a few choices: either join in on the chaos on the RED team or leave and find a more enjoyable atmosphere to play in. As a server operator this is a nightmare: player retention and an enjoyable gaming environment are always a priority.  A new rule (currently #51 http://war3evo.info/forums/index.php/topic,3758.msg127651.html#msg127651) was drafted and put in place to help give staff the tools they need to prevent this behavior.

In conjunction with the new rule the Staff team came to a general consensus that Derpiantor's stay in our community should come to an end, resulting in his permaban. Very few individuals reach this point. Derpinator's malfeasance, storied punishment history and ill-intent paint us an individual who epitomizes the behavior of a troll. *This player never had good or positive intentions and likely never will*. We have no obligation as a community to play cat and mouse with updating rules and systems to account for a player who's mission and primary source of enjoyment is to find new ways to cause problems.
